FR Denim — Safety & Certification Details
Women's Work Wear® FR denim is designed for industrial environments where flash-fire and electrical-arc hazards may be present.
Our FR denim combines protective performance with a women's-specific fit, flexibility, and durability for demanding work environments.

The stated 8.0 cal/cm² arc rating is based on the applicable AITEX arc-test documentation for the FR shirt fabric.
These specifications apply to the tested shirt fabric and corresponding garment construction. Other Women's Work Wear® products may have different protective performance ratings.
Understanding Our FR Certifications
NFPA 2112: Establishes minimum performance requirements for flame-resistant garments intended to protect industrial personnel against short-duration thermal exposures from fire, commonly referred to as flash fires.
NFPA 70E: Provides workplace electrical safety requirements, including the selection and use of appropriate arc-rated protective clothing.
CAT 2: Arc-flash personal protective equipment category requiring a minimum arc rating of 8 cal/cm² when selected under the NFPA 70E PPE category method.
ASTM F1506: Establishes performance requirements for flame-resistant and arc-rated textile materials and garments intended for workers exposed to electrical arc hazards.
ASTM F1959: Standard test method used to determine the arc rating of materials for clothing.
Arc Rating (ATPV): The incident energy associated with a 50% probability of reaching the onset of a second-degree burn, as determined by the applicable arc test method.
IMPORTANT: Flame-resistant and arc-rated garments do not eliminate the risk of burns or injuries. The appropriate level of protection must be determined through a workplace hazard assessment.

Flame-Resistant Garment Use, Care & Maintenance Guide
This User Information Guide provides essential instructions regarding the selection, use, care, inspection, maintenance, and retirement of Women's Work Wear® flame-resistant garments.
These instructions are intended to help users understand potential hazards and reduce the risk of serious injury or death.
Failure to follow the instructions may compromise garment performance and increase the risk of injury.
It is the responsibility of the wearer to read, understand, and follow these instructions and all care labels attached to the garment.
Safety Considerations & Limitations of Use
Women's Work Wear® flame-resistant garments are intended to provide limited protection against short-duration thermal exposures from fire, including flash-fire hazards, and electrical-arc hazards where the specific garment has an applicable arc rating.
FR garments are not intended to provide unlimited protection against fire, flames, or thermal hazards.
These garments are NOT intended for:
- Structural firefighting or wildland firefighting.
- Intentional entry into fire or direct flame exposure.
- Protection against hazardous chemicals, chemical splashes, or liquid penetration.
- Protection against molten metal, hot liquids, or steam unless specifically tested and approved for those hazards.
- Use in environments where the hazards exceed the garment's protective capabilities.
Exposure to oils, fuels, chemicals, or other flammable contaminants may compromise protective performance.
WARNING: Failure to properly select, wear, maintain, or inspect FR clothing may result in serious injury or death.
Proper Use & Workplace Safety
Consistent with the principles of NFPA 2113, flame-resistant clothing must be selected according to the hazards present in the workplace.
A qualified workplace safety professional should evaluate potential hazards and determine the appropriate protective clothing and required protection levels.
Workers should receive appropriate training regarding the capabilities and limitations of their protective clothing.
Women's Work Wear® garments should be used only for their intended protective purposes and in accordance with applicable workplace safety requirements.
Proper Fit & Wearing Instructions
Proper garment fit is essential for comfort, mobility, coverage, and protective performance.
FR garments should not be excessively tight or loose and should allow the wearer to perform normal job duties without restricting movement or exposing areas of the body.
When wearing Women's Work Wear® FR clothing:
- Wear garments fully closed and properly fastened.
- Keep sleeves extended and cuffs secured as designed.
- Do not roll up sleeves or intentionally expose unprotected skin.
- Keep shirts properly positioned to maintain protective coverage.
- Ensure the garment provides adequate coverage during bending, climbing, kneeling, and other workplace movements.
- Do not modify or alter the garment in a manner that may compromise protective performance.
Follow all workplace requirements regarding additional protective clothing, layering, and personal protective equipment.
Sizing & Adjustments
Women's Work Wear® garments are specifically designed to accommodate women's body shapes while maintaining comfort and mobility.
Because fit and sizing may vary by product, customers should refer to the individual product's sizing information before selecting a garment.
FR Jeans
Our FR jeans are available in multiple women's sizes and inseam lengths.
Available inseams:

FR Shirts & Other Garments
Our FR shirts and other protective garments are offered in a range of women's sizes.
Refer to the individual product listing for the applicable size chart, available sizes, and garment-specific fit recommendations.
Always select a garment that provides proper coverage and does not restrict movement.
Cleaning & Laundering Instructions
Proper laundering is essential to maintaining the condition and protective performance of flame-resistant garments.
Always follow the care instructions provided on the permanent label attached to each individual garment.
Failure to follow the garment's laundering instructions may cause damage, premature deterioration, or reduced protective performance.
General care precautions include:
- Do not use chlorine bleach.
- Do not use fabric softeners.
- Do not use starch.
- Avoid washing FR clothing with heavily contaminated garments.
- Remove flammable contaminants, including oils, grease, and fuels, before returning garments to service.
- Follow the garment-specific washing and drying temperature instructions.
- Avoid excessive laundering temperatures or drying conditions that may damage the fabric.
- Inspect garments after cleaning for signs of damage or deterioration.
Flammable contaminants remaining in the fabric may increase the risk of injury during exposure to fire or an electrical arc.
IMPORTANT: If a garment cannot be adequately cleaned or decontaminated, it must be removed from service.
Inspection & Maintenance
Women's Work Wear® FR garments should be inspected upon receipt, before and after each use, and after laundering.
Inspect the garment for:
- Holes, tears, cuts, or excessive abrasion.
- Broken, loose, or damaged stitching.
- Damaged seams or fabric separation.
- Broken zippers, buttons, snaps, or closures.
- Excessive thinning, deterioration, or weakened fabric.
- Burn marks, charring, discoloration, or unusual stiffness.
- Contamination from oils, chemicals, fuels, or other hazardous substances.
Do not continue wearing a damaged or potentially compromised FR garment.
Any garment showing damage that may affect its protective performance must be removed from service until properly evaluated, repaired where appropriate, or replaced.
Repairs & Alterations
Repairs to Women's Work Wear® flame-resistant garments must be authorized by Women's Work Wear® and performed using appropriate flame-resistant materials, threads, and components compatible with the garment's protective requirements.
Not all FR fabrics, threads, or replacement components provide the same level of protection.
Unauthorized alterations, repairs, embroidery, heat transfers, patches, or other modifications may compromise garment performance.
MANUFACTURING DEFECTS: If a garment develops a defect caused by faulty materials or manufacturing workmanship, contact Women's Work Wear® for evaluation.
Eligible manufacturing defects may be repaired or the garment replaced under our limited warranty.
Normal wear, accidental damage, improper use, and damage caused by excessive laundering are not considered manufacturing defects.
Garments must be cleaned according to their care instructions before being submitted for repair.
Marking, Logos & Customization
Additional logos, company names, embroidery, insignia, patches, or other markings must not compromise the flame-resistant performance of the garment.
Non-flame-resistant or non-heat-resistant materials may create additional hazards when exposed to flames or high temperatures.
Any customization should use appropriate materials and methods compatible with the garment's protective requirements.
Contact Women's Work Wear® before making alterations or adding custom branding to protective garments.
Recommended Storage Practices
FR garments should be cleaned and inspected before storage.
Store garments:
- In a clean, dry environment.
- Away from direct sunlight and excessive heat.
- Away from excessive moisture and humidity.
- Away from chemicals, oils, fuels, and other contaminants.
- In conditions that prevent unnecessary fabric deterioration or damage.
Improper storage may negatively affect the condition and protective performance of FR garments.
Garment Retirement & Disposal
Flame-resistant garments must be removed from service when their condition no longer allows them to provide the intended protection.
Reasons for garment retirement may include:
- Excessive fabric wear or deterioration.
- Unrepairable holes, tears, or seam damage.
- Significant thermal exposure or fire damage.
- Persistent contamination that cannot be adequately removed.
- Damaged protective components that cannot be appropriately repaired.
- Any condition that compromises the garment's protective performance.
Garments determined to be unsuitable for continued protective use must be retired and disposed of in accordance with applicable environmental and workplace requirements.
Retired or damaged FR garments must not be resold or represented as suitable protective clothing.
ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY
MANUFACTURING DEFECTS ONLY
Women's Work Wear® provides a ONE-YEAR LIMITED WARRANTY COVERING MANUFACTURING DEFECTS ONLY, beginning on the original date of purchase.
This warranty applies to defects in materials or workmanship resulting from the manufacturing process.
Examples of potentially covered manufacturing defects include defective stitching, improperly constructed seams, faulty hardware, or other verified production-related defects.
What Is NOT Covered
THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR, EXCESSIVE USE, OR DAMAGE CAUSED BY IMPROPER CARE.
The following are not covered:
- Normal fabric wear, fading, or deterioration from use.
- Damage caused by repeated or excessive laundering.
- Shrinkage or damage resulting from failure to follow care instructions.
- Accidental tears, cuts, burns, or abrasions.
- Damage caused by tools, machinery, chemicals, or workplace conditions.
- Unauthorized alterations, modifications, or repairs.
- Damage resulting from misuse, neglect, or improper storage.
- Garments that have reached the end of their useful service life.
A one-year warranty does not guarantee that a garment will remain free from normal wear or deterioration for one year.
The service life of FR clothing depends on working conditions, frequency of use, exposure to hazards, laundering practices, and proper maintenance.
Manufacturing Defect Claims
If you believe your Women's Work Wear® garment has a manufacturing defect, contact our customer support team with your order information, a description of the issue, and clear photographs of the affected area.
Women's Work Wear® will evaluate the claim to determine whether the issue resulted from a manufacturing defect.
For approved claims, Women's Work Wear® will provide an appropriate repair or replacement.
Warranty coverage is limited to verified manufacturing defects and does not extend to ordinary garment wear or deterioration.
Certification Documentation & Vendor Approval
Women's Work Wear® maintains applicable testing and certification documentation for our flame-resistant garments and fabrics.
Documentation may be provided to safety managers, employers, purchasing departments, distributors, and industrial facilities requiring verification of protective clothing specifications.
Requests for documentation should identify the specific product being evaluated so the appropriate certification and testing information can be provided.
